Living life to the fullest

“People sometimes sneer at those who run every day, claiming they'll go to any length to live longer. But don't think that's the reason most people run. Most runners run not because they want to live longer, but because they want to live life to the fullest. If you're going to while away the years, it's far better to live them with clear goals and fully alive then in a fog, and I believe running helps you to do that. Exerting yourself to the fullest within your individual limits: that's the essence of running, and a metaphor for life — and for me, for writing as whole. I believe many runners would agree”

First Half Marathon

Once, not long ago, I could not see myself running for 15 minutes. Today, 15 Nov 2011 I ran my first half marathon. And I did it solo.

On your long runs, you only need to drag yourself to the halfway point, after that you just can't be stopped.

On becoming a runner

What makes you a runner is pretty much your mind rather than your body, your commitment rather than your muscles

Born to run

"Beyond the very extreme of fatigue and distress, we may find amounts of ease and power we never dreamed ourselves to own; sources of strength never taxed at all because we never push through the obstruction."
William James, quoted in "Born to run" by Christopher McDougall
